THE Royal Family have paid tribute to First World War volunteers today during Armed Forces Day.

The Queen was joined by the Duke of Edinburgh, the Earl of Wessex, Prince Michael of Kent and Princess Alexandra, at the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London for a Drumhead service of remembrance led by the Bishop of London.

A march by reservists took place on the grounds of the Chelsea Pensioners Club, accompanied by the Honourable Artillery Company band. It is 100 years since the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo on June 28 1914.

The killing is believed to have sparked a series of events which led to the outbreak of the First World War. Click link for full post from EXPRESS.
